What Is SIAMS?
SIAMS stands for Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools. It is a national inspection process for Church of England and Methodist schools, designed to evaluate how well a school’s Christian vision and values are lived out in all aspects of school life.
Why Is SIAMS Important?
SIAMS inspections help ensure that church schools:
- Provide a distinctive Christian ethos that supports the wellbeing and development of all pupils.
- Promote inclusive and respectful environments where children of all backgrounds feel valued.
- Encourage pupils to explore spiritual, moral, and cultural development.
- Demonstrate how their Christian vision shapes policies, relationships, and the curriculum.
What Does This Mean for Parents?
For parents, SIAMS provides reassurance that the school:
- Is committed to nurturing children in a caring, values-driven environment.
- Encourages children to reflect, ask questions, and grow in character.
- Works in partnership with families and the wider community to support every child’s journey.
