Science INTENT statement

We believe in the importance of Science in primary education and we aim to encourage children to develop their scientific thinking and knowledge through hands on exploration and experimentation. Where relevant science skills and knowledge is linked to the termly theme to give, a real relevance to the children’s learning. This themed approach leads the children to enjoy new scientific discoveries, inspiring them and equipping them with the skills they need for our rapidly changing society.

At Little Horsted CE Primary School our aim in Science is to give children practical experiences of scientific processes by allowing them to experiment and find solutions to questions about the world around them. We hope that children are excited by what they can discover for themselves during the teaching of Science and that they are able to ask scientific questions and plan ways of finding the answers through scientific enquiry.
